Airlin Singewald

Airlin Singewald, Morro Bay's Community Development Director, has 20 years of land use planning, grant management, and housing policy experience. Airlin's career has had a strong focus on affordable housing. After graduating from Cal Poly in 2005, Airlin worked as a consultant managing first-time homebuyer and housing rehabilitation programs for multiple California cities and counties. In 2007, Airlin joined the County of San Luis Obispo's Planning and Building Department, where he played a critical role in implementing San Luis Obispo County's 2016 Housing Initiatives Package, the adoption of the County's 2020-2028 Housing Element Update, and overseeing the Urban County's HUD grants. Airlin also led an effort to evaluate various long term funding options for affordable housing, including a potential affordable housing bond. Airlin joined the City of Morro Bay in June 2024. As the Community Development Director, Airlin works closely with the community to address critical land use issues, such as master planning of waterfront areas, housing, economic development, and preserving valuable historic and scenic resources.
